The Archivist explodes out of the gate with Elodia’s agile, syncopated drumming. Organized around an ostinato in 7/4, the piece takes inspiration from the idea of a scholar working to piece together information about the life of a recently deceased relative from various digital threads. “We are deluged with an excess amount of information about many of the people close to us, thanks to both public records and highly curated digital profiles. I was captured by the idea of a person going online to try to collect information about a relative’s life, and being overwhelmed by what they find, in the sense that some of it might not align with the person they knew in their private life," says Elodia.
